Alpha Darlene's Story
Alpha Darlene Dari Black, age 83, of Kenton, Ohio, passed away Thursday, January 4, 2018, at the Kenton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born March 9, 1934, at Sharkey, in Rowan County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Henry Johnson and Sallie (Choat) Black.
Dari, who remained single, lived with her parents until about 1961. Following the death of her mother, Dari moved to Michigan and lived with her sister, Olive Kay (Black) Drouillard. They moved to Myrtle Beach and returned to Kenton, Ohio, where they continued to live together until Olive Kay became ill. Dari moved into her own apartment until 2010 when she was admitted to Kenton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where she resided until her passing.
In addition to her parents, Dari was preceded in death by twelve siblings: Audry Clayton Black, Geneva (Black) Alfrey, Christene (Black) Rawlings, Edith (Black) Filson, Eula (Black) Ford, Henry Clifford Black, Olive Kay (Black) Drouillard, John Wilford Black, Mable Marie (Black) Pickrell, Roy Gene Black, Billie Jane (Black) Butcher, and Donald Wayne Black.
She is survived by one brother, Dewie Elwood Black of Dacula, Georgia; several dear nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Family will receive friends beginning at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 8, 2018, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals with a funeral service immediately following at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Terry Moore officiating.
Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Morehead.
