Anna Louise Blevins McCarty, age 90, of Mabry Drive, Morehead, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 31, 2016, in her home.
Born July 9, 1926, in Olympia, she was the youngest of four children born to Finis Winslow and Sue Satterfield Blevins. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Marie, Bud, and Bob.
Louise's loving husband, Winfred Vaugh McCarty, whom she wed Jan. 23, 1946, passed away Jan. 11, 2008. Louise and Winfred began as high school sweethearts—she was a cheerleader and he a basketball player—and throughout their 62 years of marriage were helpmates to each other. Louise received great joy helping Winfred in his personal and business activities. They also enjoyed traveling and sharing their home with family and friends. Many nephews became "their children" when living with Aunt Lou and Uncle Wink while attending Morehead State University. Family, church and community were very important to Louise. She was an honored member and former president of the Rowan County Homemakers and a devout Christian. A dedicated member of the Clearfield First Church of God Tabernacle, she had been a Sunday school teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher and choir member.
Louise will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her many devoted nephews and nieces, extended family and friends.
A celebration of life service will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, 2016, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Cecil Ison and the Rev. Saundra Nathanson officiating. Burial will follow in the Jones Cemetery in Midland.
Family will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation is Friday, Aug. 5, 2016, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
