Charles Edward's Story
Charles Edward Chuck Meade, age 70, of Grassy Lick Road, Morehead, passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at the V.A. Medical Center in Lexington.
Born July 4, 1946, in Hazard, he was a son of the late Joseph C. and Rena Fay Day Meade. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Katherine Meade.
Chuck is survived by his wife of 48 ½ years, Joyce Ann Griffith Meade, whom he wed September 7, 1968; two brothers, Bill (Elaine) Howard of Mansfield, Ohio, and Robert Meade of Morehead; nieces and nephews; extended family and friends.
Chuck enlisted in the USMC in 1965 and served his country until 1969, including two tours in Vietnam. Sgt. Meade was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/3*, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/device, Good Conduct Medal (1st Awd, 2nd Awd), and Presidential Unit Citation. Chuck, and others, established the local VFW. He was a longtime member of Morehead American Legion Post 126. A carpenter, he owned and operated Meade Home Improvement for several years. Always busy, Chuck enjoyed every day to the fullest and treasured his friends. Most of all, he enjoyed the Romeo Club at Hardees, Big 4, and American Legion. Heaven on earth to Chuck was wading waters and fishing, his favorite activity!
A celebration of Chucks life will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 30, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals with family and friends presiding.
Burial will follow in Brown Cemetery with full military honors presented by Morehead American Legion Post 126. Legion members will also serve as pallbearers.
Visitation is from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. Sunday, April 30, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
