Chester Christy, age 88, of Morehead, passed away Friday, Dec. 9, 2016, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.
Born June 22, 1928, in Rowan County, he was a son of the late George and Nannie Link Christy. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Jimmy, Dennie, and George Christy, and three sisters, Dorothy Miller, Mary Mae Christy, and Viola McKeighen.
Chester is survived by two brothers, Billy Christy and John Christy, both of Morehead, one sister, Lena Keenan of Muncie, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.
Chester, a well-known person in the community, enjoyed family reunions and all types of gatherings. A humble person, he loved receiving all kinds of gifts but received more pleasure in giving those gifts to others. He was friendly and kind and will be remembered by his family and many friends who had the pleasure of knowing Chester through the years.
The family extends heartfelt thanks for the numerous acts of kindness Chester received from his neighbors and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2016, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Joe and Robyn Cline and the Rev. Michael Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers: Carl Christy, Scott Neal, Dave Christy, Alex Kiser, James Donathan, and John Palmer Northcutt.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2016, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
