Daniel Wallace Collins, age 48, of Flemingsburg Road, Morehead, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2018, from injuries sustained as a pedestrian in a traffic accident.
Born October 23, 1969, in Paintsville, he was the son of the late Homer and Mary Jane Vanhoose Collins.
Dan is survived by two sons, Daniel and Matthew Collins, both of Lewis County, one daughter, Rachel Collins of Lexington, and their mother, Erin Himes of Vanceburg; one granddaughter, Mara Collins; one brother, Jimmy Collins of Johnson County; two half-brothers, Jerry Collins of Prescott, Arizona, and Wayne Collins of Weston, West Virginia; two half-sisters, Tely Ellis of Asheville, North Carolina, and Jane Perky of Alcolu, South Carolina.
Dan was currently employed as a plating lab technician at SRG Global in Morehead. He graduated from Johnson Central High School in 1987 and served in the U.S. Army from 1987-1990. After receiving bachelors and masters degrees in psychology at Morehead State University, he worked as a counselor at MSU prior to joining SRG Global. He was a member of the Owingsville Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals. A funeral service celebrating his life will begin at 3 p.m. with Bishop Jason Purdy officiating. Full military honors will be presented at the funeral home by Morehead American Legion Post 126.
