David Cleveland Vance, age 67, of Wellington, Kentucky, passed away Friday, August 18, 2017, at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington.
Born September 7, 1949, in Ronceverte, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Robert and Nancy Mullens Vance. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.
David is survived by his wife, Ruby Joyce Esham Vance; daughter, Marlene Ann Levis (William) of South Carolina; stepdaughter, Sheila Fredrick of Sparks, Nevada; stepson, Scott Fredrick of Virginia; sister, Janet Dix of West Virginia; and granddaughters, Bianca Felipi of Orwell, Ohio, and Jasmin Felipi, serving in the U.S. Army in Cuba.
David was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who proudly served his country. LCpl Vance was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/device, Vietnam Service Medal w/1*, Combat Action Ribbon and Purple Heart Medal. He was a Christian and attended the Big Woods Community Church in Wellington.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Jesse Brewer officiating.
Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Legion members will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation is 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, August 21, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
