Eric Rand Collis, 70, of Prospect, formerly of Morehead, died February 11, 2018, at Norton Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville.
Born June 2, 1947, in Gallipolis, Ohio, he was the son of the late John E. Collis and Dorothy Dot Cunyus Collis.
Ric, as he was known in Morehead, graduated from University Breckinridge School in 1965 and earned both a bachelors and masters degree from Morehead State University. In 1977, he graduated from the University of Louisville Louis D. Brandeis School of Law and began his career as an attorney with the Kentucky Labor Cabinet. In the early eighties, he joined Davis & Mahan Attorneys-at-law later known as Lynch, Cox, Gilman and Mahan. He worked there until his retirement around 2010.
Ric was a lifelong supporter of MSU and U of L. He also promoted many organizations including Make the Connection and Rescue Me (advocates for veterans and animals),
two of his passions. An avid golfer, he coordinated many golf trips over the years to Florida and Arizona and was a charter member of ADHSGA, which began in the 70s as an annual golf trip to Gatlinburg.
He is survived by an aunt and uncle, Jeanne and Herb Johnston of Columbus, Ohio; cousins and other relatives; stepchildren, Christopher and Tracy Fultz; and his ever- present companion, his dog Terri.
At Rics request, no services are planned.
