Grady Joe Back, age 62, of Pine Grove Road, Olympia, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2017, in Bourbon County from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident.
Born Aug. 14, 1954, in Middletown, Ohio, he was the son of the late J. K. Back and Rosie Alice Howard Back. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Cordell Back, and one daughter, Alecia Daniell Back.
Grady is survived by his wife, Tammy Laverne Rothwell Back, whom he married July 31, 1982; one daughter, Angel Back, one son, Grady "Josh" Back and wife Shanita; and one granddaughter, Daisy Alma Lynn Back, all of Olympia.
Other survivors include three brothers, William Back and Estill Back, both of Wellington, and Mike Back of Jeffersonville; three sisters, Kathy Rigsby and Connie Viars, both of Wellington, and Media Fairchild of Xenia, Ohio; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Grady was a former employee of Homer Gregory Lumber Company and Larry Fannin Chevrolet. Known as "The Candy Man," he enjoyed making and selling candy to raise money for the Special Olympics car shows. He also enjoyed woodworking, visiting with friends, spending time with family and participating in family get-togethers. Grady was a member of the City of Refuge Church.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at the City of Refuge Church in Olympia with Bro. Mike Munday and the Rev. Lowell Rice officiating.
Burial will follow in the Back Cemetery in Menifee County. Pallbearers: William Back, A. C. Rigsby, Amber Back, Delbert Fairchild, Estill Back, and Marion Lopresto.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351 and after 10 a.m. Wednesday at the City of Refuge Church, 39 Sour Springs Road, Olympia, KY 40358.
