Harry's Story

Harry Harold Hosack, age 77, of Sarasota, Florida, formerly of Morehead, passed away Saturday, July 9, 2016, at the East Kentucky Veterans Center in Hazard.

Born Jan. 27, 1939, in Sidney, Ohio, he was a son of the late Robert Benjamin and Christine Caudill Hosack. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Freddie Hosack, and a sister, Jean Hosack.

He is survived by one son, Pete Hosack of Morehead; four daughters, Tammy Hosack of Wellington, Pamela Muse and Todd of Kingsport, Tennessee, Teresa Mullins and Dennis of Fleming Neon, and Suzanne Francis and Dave of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and five grandchildren, Meredith and Mallory Muse, Nick and Brittany Mullins, and Victoria Francis.

Other survivors include two sisters, Patti Brown of Ft. Meyers, Florida, and Berti Meacham of Logan, Utah; nieces and nephews; extended family and friends.

Harry was a U.S. Air Force veteran and an employee of G.T.E. in Kentucky for more than 30 years. After retirement, he was involved with fiber optics in Bryan, Texas. He was a former member of the Morehead Lions Club, Rowan County Jaycees, and Morehead Volunteer Fire Department. While living in Hazard, Harry liked spending time at the local V.F.W. Trains and airplanes were Harry's passion. He was a jet engine mechanic, a pilot, and enjoyed observing and studying trains. He also loved restoring old things and wood working and made many special dollhouses for his grandchildren, whom he adored. Harry was a member of the Catholic Church.

Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at Caudill Cemetery, Stork Street, Morehead, with Father Noel Zamora officiating. Full military honors will be presented by Morehead American Legion Post 126. Legion members will also serve as pallbearers.

Visitation is 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2016, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
