James Macklin Cox, 90, passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Hospice Compassionate Care Center. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Pack Cox, in 2001.

Mr. Cox was born on October 31, 1926 in Madison County, and was the son of Jonah B. and Hallie Coy Cox, both of whom preceded him in death. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy and was a member of Kirksville Christian Church. He was a farmer, as well as an entrepreneur, having owned a tobacco warehouse, a trucking company, the Kentucky Cabin Inn Restaurant in Morehead, and a carwash. He was also a photographer and the publisher of Madison County Newsweek. As a young man, Mr. Cox was an avid pilot.

Survivors include: one son, Mack Cox (Sharon), of Richmond; one daughter, Terry Cox Epps (Robert), of Corpus Christi, TX; two grandchildren, Hallie Epps and Danielle Epps; and one nephew, Billy O'Donnell.

Funeral services for James Cox will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home with Dr. Glenn Birkett officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
