James A. "Jim" Russell, age 88, of Open Fork Road, Morehead, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at his residence.
Born October 7, 1928, in Oliver Springs, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Lawrence Martel Russell and Fannie Butler Russell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rosa Mae Fritch Russell on January 17, 2017; a grandson, Grant Russell; a brother, Hubert Martel Russell; and a sister, Lucille Goodman.
He is survived by two daughters, Winnie Harbor of Hamilton, Alabama, and Melinda Vaughn of Amory, Mississippi; four sons, Steve (Lana) Russell of Betsy Layne, Danny Russell of Farmers, Sam Russell of West Virginia, and Phil (Annie) Russell of Pikeville; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
Also surviving are three sisters, Barbara Taylor of Harriman, Tennessee, Ginger Pickett of Oliver Springs, Tennessee, and Alice Justice of Knoxville, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.
Jim was a heavy equipment operator and of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed fishing and camping.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, September 29, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Ron Weaver officiating. Graveside services will be conducted 12 noon Saturday, September 30, 2017, at the Russell Family Cemetery in Oliver Springs, Tennessee.
Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, September 28, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
