Jeanetta Smith Cornett, 80, of Clearfield, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016.
Born Sept. 6, 1936, in Knott County, Jeanetta was a daughter of the late William and Zoa Combs Smith of Bonnyman. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Edna Smith Collins, Eunice Lee Smith Patrick, and Geneva Smith Cornett; four brothers, Tollie, Shade, Corbett, and William Smith, Jr.; and one infant sibling.
Jeanetta is survived by her husband, Brode Cornett, to whom she was wed on Dec. 24, 1955 in Hindman. She is also survived by one sister, Annabelle Smith Brewer Brisson of Fayetteville, NC; three sons, Gary, William, and Chad (Dannis), and two daughters, Deborah Howes (Fred) and Malissa Delagado (Lencho); nine grandchildren, Jessica Cornett Dudon, Gary Cornett Jr., Rachael Cornett, Nicole Scott (Adam), Amanda Mason (Sam), William Cornett, Wesley Cornett, Joshua Reynolds, and Zoa Reynolds; four grandchildren of the heart, Johnny, Manuel, Steven, and Lorenzo Delgado; six great-grandchildren, Ross Sparks, Hannah Sparks, Ray Sparks, Nina Scott, Landrick Mason and Milyn Mason, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Jeanetta was well-loved and will be remembered with joy.
Jeanetta loved flower gardening and bird watching. She was an avid reader and loved to quilt, sew and craft. Her special occasion recipes were the family's pride. Fishing was a special treat for her and she loved nature and the outdoors. She greatly enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Fred Howes, Sam Mason, Adam Scott, Josh Reynolds, Ross Sparks, Lencho Delgado, Manuel Delgado, Steven Delgado, and Johnny Delgado. Honorary pallbearers are Willam C. Cornett, William B. Cornett, Wessley Cornett, Gary Cornett, and Gary Cornett, Jr.
Visitation will be held at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m., Friday, Dec. 9, 2016, followed immediately by a memorial service celebrating Jeanetta's life with Chaplain Jesse Perry officiating. Burial will follow at Brown Cemetery in Morehead.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Claire Regional Medical Center Home Health or Hospice Programs (222 Medical Circle, Morehead, KY 40351) which provided care, support, and a new circle of beloved friends during the past nine months of Jeanetta's life.
