John Dan Hamilton, age 72, of Hamilton Road, Morehead, passed away Saturday, December 30, 2017, at his home.
Born March 3, 1945, in Fleming County, he was the son of Arlie Lee and Nina Dyer Hamilton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Lloyd Hamilton and Chester Ray Hamilton; one sister, Mattie Lou Hamilton; and one granddaughter, Kathy Jane Carter.
John is survived by his wife of 41 years, Kathy Stacy Hamilton, whom he wed February 21, 1976; two daughters, Danella Smith-Cox and Shawna Hamilton (Calvin Carter) of Morehead; three grandchildren, Daniel Smith, Casey Smith, Calee Cox; and one great grandson, Zander Smith.
Other survivors include one sister, Maxine Stacy and husband Charles of Flemingsburg; numerous nieces and nephews; extended family and friends.
John was co-owner of Quality Concrete Company in Gates and owner of American Tax Service. He enjoyed reading, writing poetry, going to church, mowing, helping people with taxes, and spending time with his children, especially his grandchildren and great grandson. He attended the Haldeman Church of God.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, January 4, 2018, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Larry Dyer officiating. Burial will follow in the Clearfield Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Joe Smith, Andrew Stacy, Eric Hamilton, Casey Smith, Anthony Stacy, Daniel Smith, Tim Dyer, and James Damron.
Visitation is 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2018, and anytime Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
