Margaretta "Faith" Fannin, 95, of Morehead, went home to be with her beloved "Dee" on December 9, 2017.
Born on May 29, 1922, in Sandy Hook, Faith was the daughter of the late James and Mag Clevenger and the last surviving of her seven siblings.
Her husband of 49 years, Lawrence "Dee" Fannin, preceded her in death on February 28, 1972.
Survivors include her son, Larry H. Fannin (Loretta), of Morehead, and her daughter, Carla J. Demarest (David), of Lexington; five grandchildren, Lara Fannin, Ty Fannin (Missi), Blake Fannin, Emily Demarest, and Adrienne Demarest; five great grandchildren, Abbey Allen, Chelsea Ratliff (Clay), Amy Allen, Peyton Fannin, and Presley Fannin; and one great-great grandson, Kingston Nared.
Faith was a long-time faithful member of the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ. She loved her church and in the later days would often ask, "Is it Sunday"? Sunday was her favorite day. Early on, she was a youth leader, committee member and choir member. She had a very deep faith.
She diligently supported efforts to establish St. Claire Hospital and helped in the formation of the Pink Ladies. Faith was also a hospital auxiliary volunteer for a number of years.
Widowed at 49, she was a strong, independent woman. She enjoyed reading and socializing with her friends. She was an excellent cook. She had a big heart and a deep love of children. She was a classy lady in her looks, her fashion and her furnishings.
Faith co-owned the Morehead Drive-in Theatre with her beloved Dee and enjoyed those years immensely.
She loved to talk about what a wonderful life she had, reminisce about how much she loved her family, her shopping trips and her vacations. She was a proud Elliott Countian and often spoke of going home.
But most of all, Granny Faith was a homemaker (housekeeper). She gave it Class and Grace. She recently said to Larry and Loretta, "I think I missed my calling, I should have been a professional cleaner. I just love to keep house." And by the way, Larry and a Carla thought they had the prettiest Mom in the world.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Monday, December 11, 2017, at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Morehead. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Molly Smothers officiating. Faith will be laid to rest next to "Dee" in Lee Cemetery.
