Nadine Pennington Downing, age 78, of Big Brushy Road, Morehead, passed away Saturday, December 30, 2017, at St. Joseph Hospital Hospice in Lexington.
She was born July 12, 1939, in Sandy Hook and was the daughter of the late Charlie and Alta Fraley Pennington. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Charles Lamb; three brothers, Randolph, Ronnie, and Glenn Pennington; and six sisters, Dorothy DeHart, Ann Anderson, Pearl Black, Elizabeth Buttry, Gemima Pennington, and Lurene Ison.
Nadine is survived by her husband, Jim Downing; three sisters, Leeona Tackett of Morehead, Margery Griffith and Laura Pennington, both of Fairborn, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews; extended family and friends.
Nadine retired as director of the Morehead Childcare Center. She enjoyed meeting people, traveling, gardening and canning, "cutting wood," and most of all, spending time with her family. She was a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church for a number of years and later a member of Bible Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Pastor Jack Tackett and Pastor Harold Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Charlie Pennington Cemetery on Big Brushy.

Visitation was 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
