Nelson Grant Kissick, age 73, of Old Flemingsburg Road, Morehead, passed away Sunday, December 24, 2017, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.
Born May 5, 1944, in Farmers, he was the son of the late Theodore Teddy Roosevelt Kissick and Iva Swim Kissick. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Marie Riddle Kissick on February 11, 2011; one sister, Oney Donahue on September 11, 2017; and one granddaughter, Heather Renee Kilgore Johnson on December 17, 2007.
He is survived by two daughters, Mary (Jeffery) Quisenberry of Morehead and Vicky (Joe) Kilgore of Vanceburg; four grandchildren, Amanda Dawn Quisenberry Trent, Joshua Nelson Quisenberry, Alyssa Jolynn Kilgore, and Shawn Nelson Kilgore; and four great grandchildren, Jase Andrew Quisenberry, Carter Wayne Trent, Elick Ray Trent, and Heather Renee Nea Nea Kilgore.
Also surviving are five sisters, Mattie Burnette of Lee City, Ina Kissick and Rose Kissick, both of La Vergne, Tennessee, Clela Tidwell of Hendersonville, Tennessee, and Peggy Kissick of Boiling Springs, Tennessee; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Nelson was a truck driver, farmer, logger, and diesel mechanic, and was a former employee of J. C. Wells Lumber Company. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, and fishing. However, his greatest joy and happiness was found in the time he spent with his grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday, December 28, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Brother Herbert D. Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Carter County.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
