Sherry's Story

Sherry Lynn Johnson Walker, age 63, of Boodry Place, formerly of Hwy 519, Morehead, passed away Saturday, July 16, 2016, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.

She was born Dec. 3, 1952, in Morehead, a daughter of the late Harlan Johnson and Verna Hay Carey. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Savannah Jo Kissick, who passed away Jan. 1, 2009.

She is survived by two sons, Terry Allen McKenzie and Josh Trent and wife Danielle, all of Morehead; one daughter, Lynn Kissick and husband Sam of Clearfield; two brothers, Larry Keith Johnson of Huntington, West Virginia, and Jimmy Allen Carey and wife Kristal of Morehead; six grandchildren, Justin Allen McKenzie, Teisha Marie McKenzie, Dalton Matthew McKenzie, Makenzie Renee Kissick, Braxton Lucas Trent, and Audreyanna Larae Trent; two great grandchildren, Kaden Lee Hudson and Mallorie Jo Hunt; and special longtime family friend, Tony Netherly.

Sherry was a 1970 graduate of Rowan County High School and attended Morehead State University earning a degree in nursing. She was a former nurse at Appalachian Regional Medical Center in Morgan County, St. Claire Regional Medical Center, and Life Care Center of Morehead and former manager of Ponderosa Steak House. She loved her family unconditionally, cherished spending time with her grandchildren, and always enjoyed a "good cup of coffee." Sherry was of the Church of God faith and will be dearly missed by family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Rev. James Allen and Brother Raymond Steagall officiating. Burial will be in Brown Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Carey, Josh Trent, Terry McKenzie, Justin McKenzie, Jordan Looney, and Sam Kissick.

Visitation is 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, July 18, 2016, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
