Tamma Joy Clark, 59, of Owingsville, formerly of Morehead, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2017, at St. Claire Regional Medical Center in Morehead.
Born March 23, 1958, in Morehead, Tamma was a daughter of the late Franklin and Rena Belle Stevens Clark. She was preceded in death by one sister, Cynthia Newman, and a brother-in-law, Larry Caudill.
Tamma is survived by one daughter, Tara Anderson (Jimmy) Mains of Morehead, as well as two grandsons, Anderson Mains and Harrison Mains. Other survivors include one sister, Charlotte Caudill; two brothers, Frank (Diana) Clark and Jerry (Terri) Clark, all of Morehead; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Tamma graduated from Rowan County Senior High School in 1976. She earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in medical assisting in 1979, followed by a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education and childhood development in 1983, both from Morehead State University.
Tamma was an educator for many years and had a passion for teaching science. She taught fifth grade at Tilden Hogge Elementary School for 25 years, where she was also an academic team coach. She was a preschool teacher at Morehead Child Care Center prior to that. Tamma enjoyed music, writing poetry, drawing, and astronomy. She loved spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 24, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Rev. Mark Caldwell officiating.
Visitation was from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, September 24, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
