Always instructing her children in the faith by word and deed, she was a member of the former Faith Baptist Church of Lexington.
Her first job was sales clerk for J. Earl McBrayer Furniture Store where she met her eventual husband. In turn she was owner of a sewing shop, private upholstery shop and a day care. She always desired to be of service to others.

Later, she crocheted and donated over 2,500 baby caps to Newborns in Need. But by far, her greatest joy was as a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
