He was born March 23, 1937, in Rowan County, and was a son of the late Henry and Estie Ethel DeHart Crose. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Amy Griffin in 2002; five brothers, Rossie, Teddy, Chester, Calbert, and Leathieat Crose; and two sisters, Velva Hoberty and Louise King.
Vernon is survived by his wife, Betty Stevens Crose; a son, Brian Crose; a daughter, Benita (James) Rockwell, all of Clearfield; six grandchildren, Derek, Candace, Dustin, Hope, Amber, and Alexis; and five great grandchildren.
Other survivors include one brother, Carl (Tammy) Crose; two sisters, Ruth Workman and Lennie (Paul) Perkins, all of Clearfield; numerous nieces and nephews, and other extended family and friends.
Vernon was a former bus driver for the Rowan County Board of Education and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, February 8, 2019, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Charles Moore officiating. Burial will follow in McClain- Arnold Cemetery on Wayne Black Road, Clearfield.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 7, 2019, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
