Virginia Mae Lewis Moore, age 71, of Morehead, passed away Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016, at the Life Care Center in Morehead.
Born Aug. 9, 1945, in Elliottville, Mae was a daughter of the late Arthur and Madge Moore Lewis. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Herman Edward Lewis, Jerry Dale Lewis, and Douglas Wayne Lewis, and two sisters, Darlene Lewis Dewitt and Terri Lynn Lewis.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, John William Moore, on Feb. 19, 1985.
Mae is survived by one son, John William Moore, II, of Morehead; devoted niece, Pam Warren of Morehead; three brothers, James Chalmer Lewis of Winchester, John Paul Lewis of Elliott County, and Dennis Robert Lewis of Morehead; four sisters, Shirley Evelyn Shay and Shelia Ruth Lewis, both of Clearfield, and Judy Kay Cassara and Barbara Ann Kegley, both of Morehead; several special nieces and nephews; and her "Best Friend" Marlene Kiser of Olive Hill.
She was the owner and operator of Mae's Beauty Shop and a former clerk at I-64 weight station. Mae enjoyed fishing and playing cards, horseshoes, and volleyball.
Family will serve as pallbearers.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 12, 2016, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Charles Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Moore Family Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11, 2016, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funeral in Morehead.
