Vivian Roth Hereford Jones, 90, passed from this life to her Heavenly Father, on Dec. 28, 2017. Vivian was born on March 15, 1927 in Charleston, WV to the late Herbert Roth and Ruby Ada (Barker) Hereford. She grew up in St. Albans, WV where her love of flowers, birds, bright colors, music and people, so enriched her life and those around her. Vivian graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1949 with a Bachelor of Arts in Education. She was a member of Tau Sigma Sorority and the University of Kentucky Marching Band. Vivian was the first woman to every play the French Horn there. Vivian is survived by two sons, Eric Roth and Peg (Morrow) Jones of Morehead, KY and Grover Cleveland and Laura (Bell) Jones of College Station, TX; five grandchildren, Patrick O'Neil and Rachel Jones of Lexington, KY and Plummer Mason Jones, IV, also of Lexington, Hannah Jones and Casey Jones, both of College Station, TX; one great-grandson, Ethan Blake. She is also survived by a caregiver, Phyllis Dunaway of Morehead, KY. Vivian was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Plummer Mason Jones, Jr.; two sons, an infant, Jeffrey Lee Jones and Plummer Mason Jones III; a brother, Donald P. Hereford; and a sister, Margaret "Peggy" Hereford Warner. Vivian was a former member of Central Christian Church in Lexington, KY and a current member of Burgin Christian Church of Burgin, KY.
A graveside service will be held 1 pm Tues., Jan. 2 at Lexington Cemetery. There will be a "Celebration of Life" at 2 pm Sat., Jan. 6 at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Rd. Memorial contributions are suggested to Burgin Christian Church, 300 W. Main St., Burgin, KY 40310.
