Wayne Perry Pettit, age 82, of Oakwood Drive, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2017, at his residence.
Born February 1, 1935, in Fairborn, Ohio, he was a son of the late David and Bearl Haney Pettit. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Marie Gregory Pettit, on May 29, 1990; one brother, Junior Pettit; and two sisters, Patty Mynhier and Kathleen Staton.
He is survived by one daughter, Tammy Cornett and husband Randy; one son, Tony Pettit and wife Karen, all of Morehead; four grandchildren, John Randall Cornett, Jessica Ingle, Blake Pettit, and Toby Pettit; and five great grandchildren, Johanna Ingle, Brayden and Jace Cornett, Ella and Nash Pettit.
Also surviving are four brothers and one sister, Gene Pettit, Paul Pettit, Gary Pettit, and Judy Terry, all of Morehead; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Pettit served as a medic in the U.S. Army and was a retired logger and farmer. He loved life and enjoyed family gatherings, fishing, hunting, gardening, and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, November 12, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals with the Rev. Cecil Ison officiating. Burial will follow at New Alfrey Cemetery with full military honors by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126.
Pallbearers: Blake Pettit, Toby Pettit, Randy Cornett, John Cornett, Jr., Johnny Ingle, and Virgil Brown.
Visitation will be 12 noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, November 12, 2017, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
